Brown United – Our Keynote Sponsor is one of the Premier Staging Companies in the World.

John Brown will be introducing the  Opening KeynoteThe Pursuit of Excellence, a conversation with Arthur Fogel on Sunday, Dec. 8th from 4:30 pm-5:30 pm.

John Brown, the CEO and Founder of The Brown United Companies, in his youth toured with the Rolling Stones and the Eagles.  He has worked with many of the music greats of our times – and more than a few political leaders as well, including U.S. presidents.

But John is not known for what he does on stage, but instead for building the stages and structures on which superstars perform, political stars present and thousands of moving, cheering fans review.

After touring as a stage hand years ago, John decided to come home to transform his business into one of the world’s leading event structure providers.  At age 14, he began working with his father on scaffold assembly where he eventually gained his father’s reputation for faultless and farsighted planning.  He started Brown United at just 17 years of age. John has steadily expanded the business to handle more than 800 projects per year providing equipment to The Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Elton John, Green Day, Kiss, Eminem, Dave Mathews Band, Phish, Bruce Springsteen and most recently Paul McCartney and Jay-Z/ Justin Timberlake.

Today his firm is a regular provider to top acts across all types of sporting events and across all genres of music including continuing support to classic music concert festivals such as Coachella, Stagecoach, Firefly, Tomorrow World, The Country Music Festival, Outside Lands and Bonnaroo. Recent television clients include Disney, Sony, Universal, and the ESPN X Games, with which he has been associated with for 17 years.

2013 Parnelli Award Winner for Staging Company of the Year, Brown United remains a principal supplier to users and he applies tough, regulated industrial standards to the structures erected for audiences around the world.  John is also a founding and board member of the Event Safety Alliance, a group of prominent entertainment industry and event management companies determined to press for universal safety standards for the production of live events. He credits Jim Digby, Production Manager for Linkin Park and Executive Director of the ESA ( as his inspiration and motivation in this effort.

Brown United Wins Parnelli Award for Staging Company of the Year

"Since 2001, scores of our highest achievers and most admired innovators have been awarded the Parnelli. The award recognizes pioneering, influential professionals and their contributions, honoring both individuals and companies. It is truly the "Oscar®" of the Live Event Industry."

Congratulations John Brown and Brown United!

Green Day Concert Roof and Stage in San Francisco

Thousands of people attended “The Concert For Kids” tonight in San Francisco, a fundraiser that will benefit UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland.

The fourth annual event took place at AT&T Park on a Brown United stage. Headliners for this year’s event included Grammy-award winning rockers Green Day, Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famers Blondie and local rapper MC Hammer.

The concert is an important part of the hospitals’ efforts to provide a host of programs to sick children and their families from all over the world. Previous concerts have raised $10 million, and this year’s event has already garnered $6 million in sponsorships, according to Juliana Bunim, Senior Public Information Representative at UCSF.

In addition to raising funds for current programming, money generated from the concert will also go toward building a new state of the art home for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital at the university’s Mission Bay campus, slated to open February 1, 2015.

    UFC Fight in Goiania, Brazil

Opponents Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson faced off on a Brown United stage at Arena Goiania on November 8, 2013 in Goiania, Brazil.

Vitor Belfort, for the third straight time, got a win in Brazil courtesy of a kick to the head, stopping Dan Henderson 77 seconds into their Ultimate Fighting Championship Fight Night 32 main event. And he just may have kicked his way to another title shot.
